John Twitchen
John is a leading sustainability and infrastructure communicator with over twenty years experience drawn from in-house and consultancy roles.
He set up env23 to focus on working with organisations that are part of the transition to a low carbon, sustainable circular economy and supporting developments in the sustainable infrastructure and digital transformation spaces. Climate change is the most pressing issue facing humanity – this was clear when he completed his environmental sciences degree is 1996 is even clearer 20+ years later.
People make things happen, and the change needed will require people to make difficult choices – but those choices have to be positive, clear and deliverable. This requires ownership, engagement and first class communications.
He provides advice on stakeholder engagement across planning, infrastructure, smart cities, change management and community development. A natural problem-solver, he applies clear, strategic thinking to developing solutions for all shapes and sizes of organisations across the public, private and third sectors.
John’s in-house experience includes communications, policy and public affairs and fundraising roles in the environment and sustainability sector. John set up his first consultancy, Sauce, in 2005 which he grew to employ 10 people and merged with 3G Communications in 2012. The business rebranded as Copper which John ran until exiting the business at the end of 2015.
env23 is collaborating with other specialist communications, engagement and digital consultancies to deliver leading edge community engagement and change management programmes. John is an Associate at the Consultation Institute and sits on the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management’s communications committee as well as the Association for Consultancy and Engineering’s Sustainability Interest Group.
